Overall, I had a positive experience with University of Phoenix as I pursued my Bachelors in Business Management degree online. I know there are mixed reviews out there and I can see why.
The course work is challenging, but much of the distance work is shared among learning teams and it's a bit of a crap shoot on how well your team works together. This is supposed to mirror the real world in the sense that you don't always get to choose who you work with on projects. For me I was a little disappointed on how the contributions of each member's work was tracked.
We had several team members in different time zones, or that worked nights and felt as though that entitled them to deliver minimal results and left the rest of us in a tight spot. Since they had such different schedules we had to make it work and others were able to skate by on our efforts.
As for the instructors, I felt they were engaged and involved in the learning process.
I would recommend University of Phoenix as an option for distance learning, but with so many other higher learning institutions jumping into the world of distance learning, I would also check and compare their options first.
